Lookbook.nu

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah/Whatever!  I am particularly ecstatic this Christmas because I was lucky enough to get a Macbook Pro (my first Apple computer) from which I am writing this post!  I also will be posting more often on Lookbook not only because I have a few more items in my closet than I did before December 25, but also because I will be forcing myself to get off my lazy butt and get outside to take pictures.  Which sadly I don't do very often right now.  Anyway, if you haven't checked out my Lookbook page or even Lookbook itself, you DEFINITELY should! People of all genders, ages and styles post amazing looks on the site (and accounts are freeeeeeeeeee!).

A Preppy Christmas

Christmas is coming! Now, I'm not one for being "preppy" (c'mon. Even the word kinda sucks.) but I just can't help myself from being a little bit classic this weekend! I'm vacationing on Nantucket island, and everywhere I look there's a cobblestone path leading to a cozy bookstore or a bakery, and the even the choppy gray water is appealing to me! Here's what I wore walking around town today:

DIY: Detachable Collars!!!

 Hey there,
Today I'll be doing a tutorial for detachable collars!! Yay!!

 Supplies:
1. Sharp Scissors
2. Oxford/Collared Shirt
3. Glitter, Fabric Paint, Needle and Thread, etc. (optional)

Okay, to start things off, unbutton the shirt and lay it open on a flat surface.

Then, cut along the seam that indicates where the collar separates from the shirt.  Make sure the top button and hole are included when you cut!  If the shirt you're using isn't made that way, you should probably find another one (you can get a huge variety at consignment shops and thrift stores for super cheap).

After the collar is cut off, you can button it around your neck and wear it as it is, or you can decorate it.

Really, you can decorate it however you want, but here are a few ideas:
1. Sew or glue on buttons/beads/junk of different shapes and sizes
2. Sew on lace or ribbon trim around the edges
3. Paint on a design with fabric paint

I love you, shorts!

Hey there...

I've been having a debate with SOME PEOPLE (cough, cough...my parents) about wearing shorts in 30 degree weather.  They're basically on the edge of throwing them all away.

So???  I like shorts!  And I'll wear tights under them!  But come one, you can't tell me not to wear these bad boys, even if I freeze to death:

First Post!

Hey there...
This is my first entry on my blog The Style Cloud!  I'll be posting mostly about fashion, from trends that are popular with the younger/my generation (Aeropostale, anyone?) to older women's fashion taste (old ladies can have an awesome wardrobe too!) and everything in between.  I will also post lots of my photographs on here, whether they are of me and my clothing or of objects and landscapes.

So, to wrap things up, if you want to be like a cool old lady, or just a fashionable person, then wear this.

Just kidding.  Please don't.
